Chamand shooting.

The Laurentian Voyageurs Men's basketball team ended their first road trip of the season with their first win beating the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks by a score of 71-66.

Straight off the first tip, Ontario Tech took the game to the Voyageurs holding them to just 3 points for the majority of the first quarter before Laurentian was able to end on a 9-0 run on three straight three pointers made to end the quarter.  In the second quarter Laurentian locked in on defense and forced the Ridgebacks into early foul trouble leading to 9 free throws attempted in the quarter in which they converted 7 of them. They outscored Ontario Tech 26-16 in the quarter led by Ethan Cudney who hit two three pointers to give Laurentian a six point lead going into the break.

In the third quarter things continued to look up as the Voyageurs began to find success driving into the paint scoring 12 of their 20 points in their third inside the paint as well as being able to get to the free throw line 7 times in the quarter.

The fourth brought on Laurentian's toughest test of the day as Ontario Tech mounted a fierce comebacks with a high powered press that caused problems for the Voyageurs. In the end though Laurentian's resilience meant they were able to hold off the last ditch efforts brought on by the Ridgebacks in the fourth quarter to end the game with a slim 71-66 victory.

Cobin Scott quietly was the standout performer in a game that saw four Voyageurs reach double digits in points with Scott having a game high 20 points on 4-9 shooting from beyond the arc and 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double on the day.

The Voyageurs are now 1-1 on the year and will come back home on Firday  for their home opener against the Ottawa Gee-Gees with tip off set for 8pm at Ben Avery Gym.
