MBB | Voyageurs Can’t Handle First-Ranked Ravens

The Laurentian men's basketball team faced their toughest challenge yet of the season on Friday night as they took on the best team in the country, the Carleton Ravens. Unfortunately, for the Voyageurs and their fans, they came out on the losing end by a hefty margin of 87-56. 

 

The Voyageurs started the match strong as they outscored the Raven 14-11 in the first quarter. But unfortunately, the Ravens overpowered the Vees and outscored them by a score of 27 to take a nine point lead going into the second half, as the score line read 38-29. The Voyageurs shot 36.0% from the field, whereas the Raven shot 35.9%. The Voyageurs were led by Kadre Gray and Joseph Hlady in the first half who both scored 10 points each, followed by Curtis Gordon with six points. The Ravens were led by Isiah Osborne with 13 points Alain Louis with seven points. 

 

The Ravens managed to earn a double-digit lead when 9:43 were left in the third quarter and did not look back since. The Voyageurs were unable to cut the lead back to single digits the rest of the match and were ultimately outscored 24-16 in the third quarter and 25-11 in the fourth quarter. When the dust settled, the Voyageurs dropped their second game of the season by a score of 87-56. 

 

The Voyageurs shot 35.8% from the field for the entire game and were led by Kadre Gray with 20 points and Joseph Hlady with 19 points. On the other hand, the Ravens shot 42.5% from the field for the entire game and were led by a multitude of players but a few noteworthy players include Isiah Osborne with 18 points, Munis Tutu with 15 points, Lloyd Pandi with 15 points, Alain louis with 11 points and Yaslin Joseph with 10 points. 

 

The Voyageurs continue their road trip at the nation's capital tomorrow when they take on the fourth ranked team in the country, the Ottawa Gee-Gees, at Montpetit Hall at 8 pm.
