MBB | Off Night for the Voyageurs; Lose by 28 to Seventh-Ranked Rams

The Voyageurs were blown out by a fellow top 10 team in the nation, the Ryerson Rams, on Saturday night as they lost by a score of 106-68. 

The Rams came out of the gate strong, by going on a 15-4 run to open the match. But the Voyageurs responded soon enough and made it a six point lead but the Rams had a response of their own as well. Eventually they outscored the Voyageurs 31-21 in the first quarter and took a commanding lead.  

The second quarter was much more of the same than that of the first as the Voyageurs were outscored by 10 points once again. The Voyageurs cut the lead to nine points but would be as close as they would get of equalizing with the Rams. When the first half came to an end, the Rams possessed a 20 point lead as the scoreboard read 58-38. The Rams were led by third year guard and rookie guard Tevaun Kokko with 22 points and Tom Dumont with 10 points. The Voyagers on the other hand, were led by veteran backcourt of Kadre Gray and Sam Ivey who scored 17 and six points respectively. Finally, the Rams were so successful in achieving this 20 point lead due to their accurate shooting as they shot 61.8% from the field while the Voyageurs shot 37.5%. 

The Voyageurs did not far much better in the second half either as they were outscored by six points (25-19) in the third quarter and by 12 points (23-11) in the fourth quarter. The Rams' lead was never threatened in any way and when the dust was settled, the Rams came out on the winning end by a score of 106-68. 

The Rams were led by Kokko with 28 points, five rebounds and three assists and was followed closely by Tanor Ngom with 18 points, 10 rebounds and one assist. Meanwhile, the Voyageurs were led by Gray with 24 points, eight rebounds and three assists and was trailed by Litha Ncanisa with eight points and three rebounds. 

It was an odd night indeed for the Voyageurs but they will now forget this result and focus on their upcoming first round playoff match against the Windsor Lancers on home court on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 pm.
