WBB | Lamoureux Named OUA Rookie of the Year

Laurentian Voyageurs' standout, Héléna Lamoureux, has been named the OUA Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Rookie team.  In her first season with the blue and gold, the Laval, QC, native led the Voyageurs and finished fifth in the OUA in scoring, averaging 16.8 points a game.

A Criminologie major, Lamoureux becomes the first Voyageurs' rookie to be honoured since Katie Goggins was named the OUA East Rookie of the Year in 2006-07.  Lamoureux's OUA career got off to a flying start as she averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per game in her first weekend of competition and she went on to record six double-doubles over the course of the season.  Despite missing six games at the end of November due to injury, Lamoureux still led the conference's first year players in total points (269), points per game (16.8), free throws made (89) and rebounds per game (8.9).

Lamoureux's All-Rookie team nod is the first for a Voyageur since 2016-17 when Kayla Deschatelets was recognized.  Lamoureux will now go into the running for the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year and a potential all-rookie selection.  Those announcements will be made on Wednesday, March 4th from the U SPORTS Championships in Ottawa.
