Coming off a strong performance in Guelph, Laurentian was hopeful to continue their winning ways as they faced off against the Golden Hawks this evening at Wilfrid Laurier University. Unfortunately, a slow start made for a difficult comeback for the visiting team.
Dropping the first quarter 18-10, and falling behind once again in the second 21-17, Laurentian just didn't have the energy for a second half comeback. This ultimately resulted in a 73-60 victory in the Golden Hawks favour.
A key issue for the Voyageurs was shooting percentage, as they shot 28% from the field and 23% from the three while Laurier shot 44% from the field and 40% from long range.
Leading contributor for the Voyageurs was fifth year veteran Emily Tinnes who had 16 points in the loss. Second year forward Bailey Tabin also had a strong showing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Top scorer for the Golden Hawks was Brianna Iannazzo with 23 points.
The Voyageurs will have a day to refocus before they match up against the Warriors at the University of Waterloo tomorrow evening.
