Tonight in Kingston the 6-11 Laurentian Voyageurs faced off against the the 10-7 Queen's University Gaels. After coming up short to York in their previous night's game, Laurentian looked to steal a win from the Gaels to split the weekend.
Unfortunately things didn't start off very well for the Voyageurs. Laurentian came out of the gate cold, shooting 7% from the field. This created a huge setback for the visiting team, as they were outscored by the Gaels in the opening quarter 23-4.
Though Laurentian bounced back in the second quarter, the damage from the first was just too steep to overcome. This ultimately resulted in a 72-46 loss for the visiting Voyaguers.
Leading contributor for Laurentian was third year guard Kayla Deschatelets with 12 points. Fourth year guard Andrea Zulich added 9 points of her own in the loss.
Top scorer for the Gaels was Veronika Lavergne with 15 points.
The Voyageurs will have a week to recuperate and refocus before they face off against their 705 rivals, the Nipissing Lakers next Friday at Robert J Surtees Student Athletics Centre.
