WBB | Voyageurs Clinch '705 Challenge Cup' with 69-49 Victory over Lakers

On Friday night, the Voyageurs women's basketball team dominated the Nipissing Lakers winning the game by 20 points with a final score of 69-49.

The Lady Vees were sporting pink uniforms as part of the annual Shoot For The Cure game, surrounded by many fans out to support the cause and the team. The first few minutes of the first period were closely matched as both teams hit the court with high energy. The Vees quickly pulled ahead of the Lakers, ending the period with a score of 14-6.

The second quarter saw the Voyageurs maintaining their energy and drive with solid defence and powerful offensive moves. Letting only a few plays through their ranks, the Vees maintained their lead over the Lakers, with a score of 28-16 at the end of the quarter.

The Voyageurs returned from the half time break with a renewed energy and a determination to hang onto their lead. Despite efforts from the Lakers, the Vees were able to keep them at bay and stop them from getting close. The Vees wrapped up the period with a score of 46-30.

The final quarter saw the same energy and drive that the Vees had brought the entire game. Determined to keep their lead and beat the Lakers, the Voyageurs pushed themselves to complete plays and block Nipissing's efforts. This drive and passion paid off, as the Vees were able to finish the game with a score of 69-49.

Emily Tinnes and L'Ashante Henry led the Vees in scoring with 15 points each, while Adriane Bruni lead the team in assists with 7. Henry also scored the most rebounds with 14.

The Voyageurs will be back in action on Friday January 27th as they take on York at the Tait-Main Gym at 6pm. Stay up to date with the Vees by checking www.luvoyageurs.com or by following @LUVoyageurs on Twitter.
