WBB | Golden Hawks Fly Past Voyageurs

WBB | Golden Hawks Fly Past Voyageurs

The Laurentian Voyageurs' women's basketball team can't seem to shake their losing streak as they lost their seventh straight game of the season when they faced off against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday night. The Vees fell 83-57 to Laurier in a hard-fought game.

The first half saw the Voyageurs struggling to keep up with the Golden Hawks' offense. The end of the first quarter saw the Vees only 4 points behind Laurier, but the second quarter was a different story. The Golden Hawks took advantage of gaps in Laurentian's defense and scored over twice as much as the Vees. By the end of the first half, the Voyageurs had scored 27 points, led by Kayla Deschatelets and Mackenzie Robinson. Laurier managed to take the lead, scoring 45 points.

The second half saw much of the same from both teams. Laurentian was unable to keep up with Laurier's offense or break through their tight defense. Emily Tinnes and Kennedi Cashmore led the scoring for the second half with 7 points each, but the Vees were unable to catch up to the Golden Hawks. The final score was 83-57 to Laurier, as the Voyageurs fell for the seventh time this season.

The Voyageurs are back in action on Saturday at 6pm as they face off against Waterloo. You can keep up with the Laurentian Voyageurs at www.luvoyageurs.com or by following @LUVoyageurs on Twitter.
