For their first game of the 2018-19 regular season, the Voyageurs faced off against their 705 rival, the Nipissing Lakers. After a victory against the Lakers in the preseason, the Voyageurs looked to come away with the win once again- and that they did. Though the first quarter was slightly rocky, Laurentian organized themselves as the game progressed, with the end result being a 86-60 win in their favour.
The victory was ultimately earned through a team effort- with five of the Voyageurs reaching double digits in the match. Third year guard Kayla Deschatelets led the way with 25 points, while Emily Tinnes added 21 points. Emily Fisher chipped in with 14 points, Andrea Zulich contributed 13 points and Mackenzie Robinson finished with 11 points.
Leading scorer for the Lakers was Jamie Soffer with 15 points.
The Voyageurs will have a week to recover before they face off at home once again, this time against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday, November 3rd at 6pm.
