After finishing the first half of their 2024-25 OUA season the Laurentian Voyageurs Women's basketball team began the second semester with a trip to Eastern Ontario and a date with the Queen's Gaels in Kingston.

Coming into the game the Vees were considered as heavy underdogs up against a Gaels squad that were riding an 8 game winning streak having not lost since early November. The first quarter though you would have thought it was Laurentian who was carrying all the momentum as their performance early on showed they could go toe-to-toe with the best in the OUA. They would finish the first quarter with a 15-10 lead through some extremely tough defending.

The second quarter however was a complete 180 as the story became Laurentian's untimely mistakes. Overall 10 turnovers were committed in the second quarter leading to numerous opportunities for the Gaels to take advantage of as they would put up 23 in the second and take a 33-22 lead into the half.

The third quarter didn't see the Voyageurs fair any better as although they were able to somewhat clean up their turnover numbers they managed to only shoot 1-13 from the field in the third quarter going 0-4 from three point range and managing to put up only 7 points allowing Queen's to continue to build on what was becoming a substantial lead.

In the end the win would go to the hometown Gaels by a score of 69-43 however the Vees will feel like this might have been a game they let slip especially after the performance they displayed in the first quarter.

Laurentian's standout performance on the night was Aneisha Rismond who put up 13 points and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes off the Laurentian bench.

The Voyageurs will wrap their weekend Saturday night at 6pm when they take on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in Oshawa.
