The final home stand for the Laurentian women's basketball team saw them first face off against the Waterloo Warriors on Friday night where they would come up just short, losing 67-55.

Right off the hop, the Voyageurs found the Warriors tough, aggressive defense difficult to handle as the first quarter was a low scoring one. The Voyageurs struggled to find any offensive momentum in the first quarter and shot just 13% from the field, limiting them to just 6 points and a 16-6 hole after one.

In the second, things began to improve for Laurentian as the shooting percentage bumped up to 30% and they outscored the Warriors 13-12 in the quarter but still found themselves down 9 points by a score of 28-19 after two quarters.

As both teams came out for the second half, the Voyageurs knew it was now or never if they were to mount a comeback and, in the third quarter, they put in their best effort of doing so. Once again, they upped their shooting percentage, this time to 40%, and put on an impressive defensive performance, limiting the Warriors to 30% shooting and only one made three pointer in the quarter. As the fourth quarter approached, Laurentian still found themselves trailing by seven, 42-35.

The fight from the Voyageurs was there but the absence of some of their key players down the stretch caught up to them and going 5-32 from deep, coupled with the large deficit in the first half, was too much to overcome as the Voyageurs would fall 67-55 to the very formidable Warriors.

Tonight's key performers were Bailey Tabin who put up another double-double performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds as well as Arielle Douillette who had 12 points off the bench.

Laurentian goes again Saturday night when they face off against the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks in their final game before the Christmas break at 6 pm at the Ben Avery Gym.
