WBB | Voyageurs Upended by Lions, 65-40

WBB | Voyageurs Upended by Lions, 65-40

After a competitive first half it seemed as if the third quarter took a toll on the Voyageurs where they were outscored 17-2 by the visiting York University Lions. Though Laurentian was able to hold their own in the fourth quarter it proved not to be enough as they ultimately fell to the Lions with a final score of 65-40.

Two integral parts to the Voyageurs' demise appeared to be rebounding and shooting percentage. The Lions out-boarded the home team  71 to 41, and shot 29% from the field compared to the Voyageurs' 20.6% success rate. Laurentian was getting nearly equal shots up ( 63 total compared to the Lions' 69) however the ball just didn't want to drop.

Top performer for Laurentian was second year guard Kayla Deschatelets  who tallied 12 points and 6 rebounds in the match.

Top contributor for the Lions was Lindsay Shotbolt who had 13 points and 14 rebounds, a major factor in York's success in the paint.

The Voyageurs will look to bounce back and claim their first win of 2018 tomorrow evening as they take on the Queen's University Gaels at 6pm on home court.
