After getting back to winning ways Friday night with a victory over the York Lions, the Laurentian Voyageurs women's basketball team were back in action Saturday night as they took on the high flying McMaster Marauders.

As the game got underway there was quickly a storyline developing over the course of the first ten minutes. In total 8 turnovers were committed by the Voyageurs and after beginning the game fairly evenly the Marauders were able to get a few key buckets of those turnovers to take a 21-17 lead into the second.

The second quarter was more of the same as although the Vees cleaned up the turnover numbers it just seemed like they could not get anything going. The second started off with a Marauder 15-2 run meaning that although the back half of the second quarter saw Laurentian create some good looks for themselves they still ended the half down 43-34.

The second half began with the Vess continuing to struggle on the offensive end this time in the shooting department. Laurentian would shoot a lowly 4-15 from the field and put up just 12 points in the third meaning that although they would outscore the Marauders 15-11 in the fourth it was too little too late as McMaster would end up on the winning side defeating the Voyageurs 73-61.

Laurentian had another outstanding performance from center Emilie Lafond who had 23 points and 7 rebounds while also shooting a very efficient 64% from the field.

The Voyageurs are on the road again next weekend as they will travel to Southern Ontario with games against the Windsor Lancers and Western Mustangs Friday and Saturday respectively.
