WBB | Voyageurs Get Back Into Win Column

Though points were exchanged through the first half, the Voyageurs had a strong third quarter showing where they outscored the visiting Varsity Blues 36-22. This surge of energy ultimately led to Laurentian capturing their first win of 2018 with a final score of 82-76.
A major key to the team's success seemed to be their continuing improvement on shooting percentage, again with an emphasis on long range shots. The Voyageurs shot 46.7% from the field , and 45.5% from behind the arc - a drastic improvement over their opponents 21.4% three point success rate.
With shooting percentage being at an all time high for Laurentian, four of their five starters scored in the double digits. Leading the pack was a pair of seniors in L'Ashante Henry and Adriane Bruni, who had 19 and 18 points respectively. Henry recorded a double-double on the night, grabbing 10 rebounds. Other notable performances came from the shooting duo of Andrea Zulich and Emily Tinnes, who together shot 53.3% on their 15 takes from behind the arc and had 17 and 15 points.
Leading scorer for the Varsity Blues was Sarah Bennett who had a game high 25 points.
The Voyageurs will travel to Ottawa next weekend where they will take on the #4 ranked Carleton Ravens and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.
