The Laurentian Voyageurs Women's Basketball team rounded out their preseason with a trip to Montreal to take part in the Mcgill Classic Tournament with games up against the StFX X-Women, Mcgill Martlets and UNBC Timberwolves.

Day 1 of the weekend saw the Voyageurs come up against the StFx X-Women in a OUA vs AUS matchup. From the very start the X-Women went on the attack as an 11-0 run to start the game put the AUS team in firm control. With the pressure relentless the 1st quarter ended with a 29-9 StFX lead. With such a substantial lead to begin the game it was always going to be tough for the Vees to comeback as although they threw out a strong performance for the rest of the game the deficit faced after the first quarter ended up being insurmountable and the X-Women would go on to win 67-48

Saturday afternoon was a chance for Laurentian to turn things around as they faced off against the hometown Mcgill Martlets. Once again though it was the first quarter would prove to be their downfall as midway through the quarter the Martlets would go on a 15-0 taking a 25-9 lead at the end of the first. Laurentian's comeback attempt was formidable as they outscored the Martlets 11-0 in the fourth quarter with Emilie Lafond putting up a team high 19 points. However it was a case of too little too late as Mcgill was able to hold on to win game 2 of the weekend 51-42.

In their final game on Sunday Laurentian would be matched up with UNBC Timberwolves as the Voyageurs would look to end the preseason on a high. This time around the Voyageurs were able to stay in striking distance after the first quarter being down just 6 at 18-12. From there it was Laurentian's turn to go on the attack. Led by 7 points in the second quarter by Molly Adams the Voyageurs would outscore UNBC 22-12 in the second taking a 34-30 lead into the half. From there it would be a tightly contested bout for the rest of the game with both teams exchanging buckets throughout the second half. In the end though it wasn't meant to be as a few late threes from the Timberwolves would give them the edge to go on to win 63-60.

With that being their final preseason weekend of the year Laurentian will begin their regular season Friday night at the Ben Avery Gym as they are set to host the Toronto Varsity Blues with tip-off set for 6pm.
