After a disappointing loss the previous day at the hands of the Queen's Gaels the Laurentian Voyageurs Women's basketball team were looking to bounce back against an Ontario Tech Ridgebacks team that were sitting at just 1 win over their first 11 games of the season.

Just as they did the previous night Laurentian came out of the gates flying as the offence was firing on all cylinders in the first quarter. Led by 8 points from rookie Cadence Pecore the vees would shoot an even 50% in the first including 40% from three point range putting up 26 points and taking a five point lead into the second.

In the second quarter the Vees showed off their defense as they limited the Ridgebacks offense in nearly every facet. First Laurentian outrebounded their opponents 12-6 in the second alone while also holding Ontario Tech to just 3-13 shooting from the field. This outstanding defense meant that the Vees continued to build on their lead as they would go into halftime up 44-32.

The second half was played out as more so the Voyageurs keeping the Ridgebacks at arms length as neither side really excelled in one specific area in the second half and the game was played fairly evenly for the majority of the last 20 minutes. That being said, as mentioned before Laurentian was carrying a 12 point lead going into the second half which meant that an even second half was exactly what they needed as they would go on to beat Ontario Tech by a score of 79-63.

The game's standout performer was Emilie Lafond who put up a game high 24 points as well as 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

The Voyageurs go again next weekend as they come back home to face off against two schools from the nation's capital as both the Ottawa GeeGees and Carleton Ravens will come to town on Friday and Saturday night with both games set to begin at 6pm at the Ben Avery Gym.
