The Laurentian Voyageurs women's basketball team began their final roadtrip before Christmas with a matchup against the Windsor Lancers Friday night.

Off the back of a loss at the hands of the McMaster Marauders to end last weekend the Voyageurs were looking to bounce back against a very formidable Lancer team that went into this game with a record of 5-3 on the season.

The first quarter was quite evenly matched with four lead changes in the first few minutes alone and neither side being able to create a run of points to create a gap between themselves and their opponent. Laurentian would add a key couple of baskets to end the first allowing them to go into the second quarter up 14-11.

The Lancers would begin the second quarter on a 6-0 to take the lead early. It would be a lead they would not give up for the remainder of the first half as the home team would go into the break leading 30-28.

The second half started out with neither side managing to get any scoring run at all in the third quarter with the Vees only being able to put up ten points. However the damage was limited as Windsor's offense seemed to struggle just as much, only picking up 12 points of their own putting the score at 42-38 going into the final ten minutes.

After being in such a close fought game for the first three quarters, the fourth was one to forget for the Voyageurs as Windsor would put up 22 in the final quarter to take home a victory with a score of 64-51.

Laurentian's outstanding performer of the game was Emilie Lafond who put up a team high 14 points along with 6 rebounds. There were also great performances by Molly Adams who put up 12 points in the game while Lauren Robertson-Martin picked up 10 rebounds in the loss.

Laurentian will go again Saturday as they take on the Western Mustangs at 6pm as the Vees round out their final roadtrip before Christmas.
